Introducing the special area

historical background

Sarkhs Special Economic Zone is located 17 kilometers from Sarkhs city, next to the Mashhad-Sarkhas road and adjacent to the railway connecting Turkmenistan and, consequently, Central Asia with Iran. The Fern Special Zone is adjacent to the member countries of the Shanghai Treaty, Eurasia and independent countries (cis).

In line with the objectives of the economic, social and cultural development program of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the development and expansion of economic and cultural relations with neighboring countries, Islamic countries and regional organizations such as the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), the Sarkhes Special Economic Zone coincides with the important event of the opening of the railway. Mashhad-Sarkhs-Tajn started working with the presence of leaders and representatives of more than one hundred countries. Sarkhes Special Economic Zone was established according to the approval letter No. 40102/T 16466 K dated 1/26/1375 of the Supreme Council of Free Zones with an area of 5200 hectares at the zero point of the border with Turkmenistan and near the city of Sarkhes. Also, based on the approval of the Council of Ministers, Astan Quds Razavi was designated as the responsible organization of the region.
