Development of international relations to attract foreign capital
Referring to the development of relations between this region and foreign countries, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sarkhes Special Economic Zone stated: In this regard, very good cooperation agreements have been concluded with China, Russia and the UAE. Mohammadreza Barhamand said: Iraq is a country that is very close to Iran in terms of religious and cultural commonalities, and they are interested in investing in Fern.
He continued: We hope that this meeting will be the beginning of cooperation and signing of contracts and registration of joint companies between the region with the Iraqi government and investors.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sarkhes Special Economic Zone, referring to the words of the advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister, that there are very good infrastructures in this area, noted: We are trying to establish and develop mutual relations with Iraqi investors, so that we can turn Fern into a hub for moving Iraq’s raw materials and necessities from CIS countries, Russia and China.
He also said about the advantages of turning Ferkhs special economic zone into a free zone: The most important effect that this will have on people’s lives, especially the people of Ferkhes, will be the creation of employment.
Brahamand continued: In free zones, due to the increase in investment and the facilities that are considered for investors, we are witnessing the attraction of more capital, which will directly affect job creation.
He emphasized: Reducing unemployment and increasing employment in Sarkhes is the first priority that this institute pursues in the development of the special economic zone of Sarkhes.
Using Fern’s experiences in the development of Iraq’s economic regions
The advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister also stated in an interview with the reporter of Astan News: This visit and familiarization with the Sarkhes Special Economic Zone took place at the invitation of the Minister of Economy of Iran and accompanied by the head of the Investment Organization of the Ministry of Economy.
Hazem Majeed Naji Al-Khaldi, referring to the privileged position of Sarkhs, said: Various activities are carried out in this area and we plan to create such an area on the border of Iran and Iraq after signing the desired agreement with Iran.
He continued: With the establishment of the desired area, we will witness a very large economic movement in Iraq, especially in the field of construction and housing. The advisor to the Iraqi Prime Minister considered the relations between Iran and Iraq to be very diverse and added: This shows that trade relations between the two countries are very important.
He continued: The experience of Sarkhs Special Economic Zone and, in fact, what is related to the economic relations between the two countries, can be implemented in three similar economic zones in Iraq.
Naji Al-Khaldi added: One of these areas that has been worked on is the Zarbatieh area, which is located near the border of Mehran, and we can apply the experiences of Sarkhes special economic zone in it.
