70% of the country’s rail transit is done through Sarkhes border

The CEO of Sarkhes Special Economic Zone announced that 70% of the country's rail transit is carried out through the border of Sarkhes and said: This statistic shows that this border is an internationally recognized border in the railway field.

According to the public relations and international affairs report of Sarkhes Special Economic Zone, Mohammad Reza Kalai said: Since the beginning of this year, about 2 million tons of transit goods have been transported to Central Asian countries or vice versa through the Sarkhes rail border, which has increased by about 30% compared to the same period last year.

He said: This amount of goods was transported with 800 wagons and 12 thousand trucks and pallets.

The CEO of Sarkhes Special Economic Zone also stated about the type of transit goods: These goods mainly include construction materials, clothing, household appliances, fuel, petrochemical products, etc., which entered the country from Russia and Central Asian countries and left the country in transit from other exit points.

Referring to the reasons for the increase in rail transport in Ferkhes, he noted: The creation of railway infrastructure and loading and unloading platforms, the proximity of wide and normal rails, as well as the existence of modern facilities for unloading and loading goods, are among these things.

Kalai continued: The relative advantages of Sarkhes special economic zone in the speed of unloading and loading operations and being competitive in terms of cost with other similar economic zones are other reasons for customers’ acceptance of rail transport of transit goods at the border of Sarkhes.

Referring to the consolidation of all customs activities that can be provided in Sarkhes since last year in the special economic zone, he said: With the implementation of this plan, the entry and exit of goods will be carried out with a customs code, which has had a significant impact on reducing administrative bureaucracies.

Kalai stated that the land and rail borders of Sarkhes are capable of passing 15 million tons of goods annually, and added: With the investment made by Astan Quds Razavi and the arrival of investors from China and Russia, this will be realized in the next three years.
