Existing infrastructures in Sarkhes Special Economic Zone

Due to the privileged geographical location of Sarkhs Special Economic Zone as four transit roads from North-South-East and West, unique infrastructures have been created in 3 important areas and it has actually been mentioned in the upstream documents as a border logistics center.

Railway transportation

Wide rail lines (for transit, export and import to/from Central Asian countries) connected to Central Asian countries with the possibility of moving into the region without changing bogies and normal rail lines connected to the national railway of the Islamic Republic of Iran with direct investment of the special zone Sarkhs economy (rail network and private parking)

  • Rail lines are one of the main components of the transportation industry, which have been well planned and implemented in Sarkhes Special Economic Zone.
  • Connecting to the important ports of Shahid Rajaei, Imam Khomeini, Jolfa through the rail network
    The connecting point between the countries of Central Asia, China and Russia with open waters and the countries of the Persian Gulf in the south, Turkey and the European countries in the west and the countries of Afghanistan and Pakistan in the east of the Islamic Republic of Iran
    100% exemption from the tariff deduction of 150 kilometers of railways regarding cargoes carried by foreign wagons from Sarkhes Special Economic Zone (50% of it is enforceable.)
  • Removal of bogie replacement for all Russian wagons and trains carrying goods imported from CIS countries or exported to Central Asian countries due to the presence of the Central Asian wide rail inside the Sarkhs special economic zone.

Transit Road

In order to facilitate the transit and connect the Sarkhes Special Economic Zone to the border zero point, the project of creating a transit road for the Sarkhes Special Economic Zone has been defined. The whole of this project can be divided into the following 5 main parts:

  • The axis of the transit road inside the region is 2.8 km long, which has been fully implemented.
  • The axis from ST-K street to Kacholi road bridge is 2.4 km long, which is implemented as two lanes.
  • The axis from Kacholi road bridge to Tankfarm is 3.7 km long, which is implemented as one lane.
  • The axis from Tank Farm to Sanger Road is 2.4 km long, which has not been implemented yet, but its geometric design has been done by consultants.
  • The axis from Sangar road to Sarkhas customs (border zero point), whose geometrical design is being done by consultants.

Almas Sarkhs International Airport:

The presence of Almas Sarkhes International Airport located within the legal and customs limits of Sarkhes Special Economic Zone with the privilege of an air and runway border of approximately 4 kilometers in length and 60 meters in width, with the ability to land and fly all types of wide-body aircraft.

Sarkhes International Airport is suitable for the entry and exit of international air traffic due to its location at the zero point of the border and the B441 flight route between Mashhad and Sarkhes, and the relevant arrangements have been made regarding the establishment of the customs system and immigration affairs and other similar instructions. And also the aviation services required for a safe flight are applicable in the place.
