According to the Communications and Media Department, after the measures taken in the Sarkhs special zone in recent months, which have led to the attraction of foreign investors from countries such as Russia, China and Turkey, a joint meeting was held between the managers of this region, internal officials and ambassadors, diplomats and investors. Internal and external meetings were held in Tehran, and in addition to creating the necessary platform to increase these cooperations and investments, six cooperation agreements were signed to increase the annual transit volume of Ferns from 2.4 million tons per year to 20 million tons.
A 53% increase in the volume of transit from Fern Customs
On the sidelines of this meeting, the deputy of customs of the Islamic Republic of Iran said about the importance of Ferkhs special economic zone for the country and its role in the development of transit: The volume of transit through the customs of Sarkhes Special Economic Zone has grown by 53% in 8 months of this year, which shows the capacity of this zone for the country. Referring to the importance of holding economic meetings with neighboring countries, Mohsen Jalvati added: The presence of the senior customs officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran in these meetings shows the serious determination of the Ministry of Economy and Customs of Iran in the direction of implementing the policies of the 13th government in the field of facilitating foreign trade.
13% growth in exports from the special region
The governor of Sarkhes also announced the size of the special economic zone of Sarkhes as 15 thousand hectares and said: This year, we have seen an 80% growth in transit and an 18% increase in exports. Hasan Nourizadeh added: In the 8 months of this year, 2 million tons of goods have been transited to Central Asian countries through the Fern Special Zone, which is a 53% increase compared to the same period last year.
Referring to the growing trend of the special economic zone of this city, he said: In this year, the amount of exports from Sarkhs Special Economic Zone has increased by 13% and the volume of goods has increased by 29% compared to the previous year, which, in addition to its economic advantages for the private sector, has also increased the income of transit customs duties in this region by 7%. .
Goods transit hub
Hasan Nourizadeh added: Geographically, this city is the northeasternmost city of the country, which borders Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, and is considered as a goods transit hub at the zero point of the border with Central Asian countries. He added: Due to this strategic location, various goods from Russia and Turkmenistan are transited through Sarkhas and through the warm waters of the Persian Gulf and Bandar Abbas to India, Pakistan and other countries.
10-year vision, annual transit of 300 million tons
According to Nourizadeh, in the next 10 years, the volume of transit goods through Sarkhes Special Economic Zone will reach 300 million tons per year. Governor Sarkhes also said about the plans made to strengthen the capacities of this region: The length of time trucks stop at the border has reached 5 nights and we plan to reduce this number to zero by the end of this year. Also, Mohammad Mahdi Rezaei, the director of Sarkhes border terminal, also stated: The traffic of the truck fleet in Sarkhes Special Economic Zone has increased by 42% this year compared to last year, and 230 trucks are traveling at the border daily.

Also, Ehsan Ghazizadeh Hashemi, the representative of Sarkhes people in the parliament, also said: Sarkhs Special Economic Zone has been active since 1374 and is currently booming. He added: The entire special economic zone of Sarkhas belongs to Astan Quds Razavi and Imam Reza’s Waqf, which has been provided to businessmen and people for the prosperity of trade and prosperity. This region is considered as the economic border guard of the country, which plays an important role in the transit of goods from Russia and Turkmenistan to India and other countries of the world.
Fern air transit is activated
Ghazizadeh continued: Sarkhes is located on the main corridor of the north and south of the country and in a part of the Silk Road, and is connected to other regions of the country by rail, road and plane, and air transit will be launched in the region in the future. According to him, 67% of the country’s rail transit volume is carried out through Sarkhes border.
The transit capacity will increase to 20 million tons
On the sidelines of this meeting, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sarkhes Special Economic Zone pointed out the purpose of holding it and stated: In this conference, the projects of Sarkhs Free Zone and the potential of this zone were introduced to the transport and logistics activists of the countries and the ambassadors of the member countries of the ECO Treaty and the countries of China, India and Russia. Mohammadreza Barhamand added: Also, in this meeting, 6 contracts were signed between Sarkhs Special Economic Zone and international partners from Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, Russia and China, and with its implementation, and the development of rail, road and air transit infrastructure, within a maximum of one year. Transit cargo will increase from 2.4 million tons to 20 million tons.
