According to the report of the Communications and Media Department, Ibrahim Azizi, during a visit to the Sarkhs Special Economic Zone and a joint meeting with the managers of this zone, said: This border region is the starting point of the country’s north-south corridor, and Sarkhes city and its special economic zone, in addition to economically providing the basis for the development of economic security, is a very good opportunity to promote economic relations with Central Asia.
Azizi stated that one of the objectives of this visit was to examine the problems of the region and the points of view of Sarkhes city managers and added: We will definitely reflect the concerns that can be followed up to the representatives of the economic council of the parliament.
The Vice Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Parliament, referring to the need for the synergy of various institutions for the development of this region, said: With the help of the same, conditions should be provided so that the planned programs and capabilities can be implemented in the city and the special economic zone of Sarkhes.
He continued: For this purpose, we must correct the existing weak points and strengthen the strong points so that the field of economic, commercial and cultural progress and development in the Sarkhes Special Economic Zone will be provided more and more, the realization of which in turn will provide the same security as in the National Security Commission and We follow the foreign policy of the parliament.
Azizi also emphasized the need to speed up the utilization of the infrastructure of this region, which was built with the investment of Astan Quds Razavi.
Economic development by turning the special zone into a free zone
He considered the most important demand of the people of Sarkhes to upgrade the special economic zone to a free zone and said: Parliamentarians, especially representatives of Khorasan Razavi, are looking for Sarkhes Special Zone to become a free zone in the near future, which requires the efforts of the government along with Parliament. He continued: All the members of the national security and foreign policy commission of the parliament believe that Ferkhs special economic zone will cause economic and security growth and development in the easternmost part of the country, which will be achieved by turning Ferkhs special zone into a free zone and employment development.
He stated that today we have the most secure border of the country in Sarkhes with the nobles and the readiness of the armed forces. One of the goals of the National Security Commission is to focus on the development and sustainable security of the borders.
Strengthening economic diplomacy
The vice chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission also said, referring to our country’s membership in the Shanghai and Eurasia Pacts: This shows that Iran has changed its line of economic communication from a one-sided view to the West and Europe for the development of economic and commercial relations to other capacities in the world. Azizi continued: Both the government and the parliament follow these agreements with particular seriousness until they come to an end, because we believe that these agreements are effective in the economic growth of the country.
The need to determine the assignment of water rights in Sarkhes city
Shahriar Heydari, the head of the border committee of the National Security Commission, also considered securing the title of Sarkhes city very important and said: The National Security Commission is seriously following this issue, and in this regard, the Water Committee has been formed in the National Security Commission of the Parliament. He added: The country’s eastern neighbors have acted poorly in terms of allocating rights to Iran and this has caused inconsistencies, therefore, within the framework of the border protocols and with the consultations that have taken place, in the near future, whatever rights and our share of the common border waters with Turkmenistan and Afghanistan will be assigned to the country.
