He said that about 70% of the trade process is carried out in the scope of customs duties. The Director General of Sarkhes Customs Department continued: Previously, there were three customs offices in Sarkhes, and the owners of the goods received several customs codes.
He added: In case of full implementation of this task, in addition to reducing export costs and time, the process of clearance and departure of goods and fleet will be facilitated.
Reducing the sleeping time of trucks
Kayani called reducing the time of trucks sleeping in the customs as one of the advantages of consolidating the customs in the special economic zone and said: Before consolidation, the trucks slept for seven nights, which we are currently trying to minimize with the necessary bed constructions.
He continued: In addition, due to the strategic location of the region and the good infrastructure that has been created due to the support of Astan Quds Razavi, we are trying to cover the excess traffic of the fleet and customs goods of the whole country to leave the land and rail borders of Turkmenistan and Central Asia from the Sarkhes border.
Kayani Aliabad considered increasing the volume of transit of goods from Turkmenistan to Sarkhes Special Economic Zone as one of the programs on the agenda after the consolidation of customs.
He continued: In the negotiations that took place in September of this year with the head of the customs of Turkmenistan, from the Turkmen side issues such as increasing the working hours of the customs, reducing the clearance time, daily traffic of at least 500 trucks from the border, increasing the acceptance of the transport fleet and increasing the exchanges and Exchanges were raised, which we will do our best to do.
Kayani Aliabad also noted about Turkmenistan’s actions to increase trade exchanges with Iran through Sarkhs Special Economic Zone: The removal of traffic tolls, the removal of restrictions and prohibitions caused by Corona, etc. are among the things that some have been done and some are in progress.
Referring to the daily traffic of 550 to 600 trucks from Ferkhes border, he said: Unfortunately, clearance procedures are still long and costly, so that despite the 40% increase in the volume of truck traffic compared to the same period last year, we still see trucks sleeping at the customs and border terminals.
The Director General of Sarkhs Customs continued: In this regard, from the beginning of February of this year, the process of exchanges and exchanges will be implemented like the conditions before the corona restrictions, which means that the goods will enter the customs facilities in the form of direct transshipment or storage and the procedure of fatal exchange will be removed.
