Consultation for the development of the country’s transit using the capacity of Sarkhs Special Economic Zone

Khorasan Razavi, Deputy Head of Coordination of Economic Affairs, during his visit to Sarkhes Special Economic Zone, listed consultation and follow-up for the development of the country's transit using the capacity of this zone as one of the plans of the province.

According to the Communications and Media Department, Abolfazl Chamandi stated in a meeting that was held after visiting Sarkhs Special Economic Zone, in the presence of economic managers of the province, in order to remove production obstacles in this area: The government has predicted that if all the infrastructures are completed, 60 billion dollars worth of goods will be transited from the borders of Sarkhs, Rasht and Inchebrun every year, and based on this, it is very important to optimally use the capacities of the Special Economic Zone of Sarkhs and strengthen it.

Chamandi added: The existing infrastructures in Sarkhs Binazir special area and the facilities of this area are far more and more modern than other areas of the province and it is considered a significant capacity for Razavi Khorasan.

The deputy head of economic affairs coordination of the province added: Today, the country’s foreign policy in the field of trade relations with neighboring countries and Central Asia is very valuable, and we should make good use of the opportunity that has arisen.

Plans to develop cooperation with Central Asian countries

Referring to Russia’s request to Iran to start the transit of goods from Anzali port, he stated: Along with the Russians, the Chinese also request the transit of their goods through the Sarkhas border, and in addition, considering that the Razavi Khorasan Governorate, as the economic minister of the country, is in cooperation with the countries of Central Asia, we are currently negotiating with these countries.

Increasing demand for transit from Sarkhs

In this meeting, Mohammadreza Barhamand, the head of the Board of Directors of Sarkhes Special Economic Zone, also stated: Due to the conditions of the region, the strategic location of Mazer Sarkhes has attracted the attention of Russians and Chinese, and during the past few months, requests to visit the capacities of this region for the transit of goods have increased significantly.

Brahmand also mentioned some issues and decisions taken on the sidelines of this meeting and said: Investigating the problems of production units, completing the issue of customs consolidation and providing a single code for export goods were among the issues to be reviewed and addressed in this meeting, and the necessary orders to assign a single customs code by the end of August were issued.
