In May 1375, the heads and presidents of the members of the ECO Colleagues Organization and more than 70 high representatives of friendly and neighboring governments of Iran gathered in the Sarkhes Special Economic Zone to turn this place into the center of commercial and economic exchanges of the large ECO area by opening the Sarkhes Special Economic Zone.
Considering that this region is considered one of the largest regions of the country among the special and industrial free trade zones in terms of size, and the proximity of this region to the countries of Central Asia and the CIS can provide suitable conditions for establishing trade exchanges such as energy, oil swaps. and provide electricity.
History of Sarkhs Special Economic Zone:
As a result of the changes that took place after the collapse of the Soviet Union and following the structural changes in the international relations of the Caucasus region and the countries bordering the Caspian Sea, they became important in regional and global equations; A matter that coincided with the period after the imposed war in Iran and the beginning of the country’s construction era; The era when Iran was seeking to enter the world economy and obtain capital and, as a result, new knowledge and technology, a goal that the then government sought to achieve by creating free and special economic zones in the country.
Following the connection of the important and vital railway between Mashhad and Sarkhs-Tajn, which as a vital highway connecting the countries of Central Asia and Russia to China with open waters, the city of Sarkhs became the focus of regional attention. And according to the wishes of the people and based on the approval of the government board in 1995, Sarkhs Special Economic Zone was approved by the Council of Ministers, and the boundaries of the Sarkhs Special Economic Zone were determined and notified by the Council of Ministers, and Astan Quds Razavi was the trustee. And the organization responsible for the region was determined.
