Strengthening the transport and transit relations of the Ferkhes route with the Commonwealth of Nations during the visit of the head of the intergovernmental road management council of the aforementioned organization to the Ferkhes special economic zone.

A joint meeting was held with the presence of the members of the board of directors and vice-presidents of the institute and with the presence of the head of the financial cooperation office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the parties discussed various fields of cooperation between the two countries and transportation issues.
During today’s meeting between Buri Karimov, the head of the Inter-Governmental Road Management Council of the Commonwealth of Nations (CIS), and Dr. Mohammad Reza Barhamand, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sarkhs Special Economic Zone, the parties discussed various fields of multilateral economic and transportation cooperation, as well as strengthening relations.
Karim F (from Tajikistan) as the head of the aforementioned council in the CIS countries, in this meeting pointed out the attractive opportunities of transportation cooperation between the Commonwealth of Independent States and our country in the form of various transportation corridors, including the North-South corridor.
He stated that the purpose of his trip to Sarkhes Special Economic Zone was to get to know the region as much as possible and to strengthen cooperation and develop relations between the CIS countries and this important international gateway.
Referring to the very high capacity of Sarkhes Special Economic Zone, especially in terms of logistics infrastructure and privileged geographical location, Karimov said:
All the facilities have been prepared in Sarkhes and the special area and this transnational capacity should be used in the best way.
Merimov further said: I will use all my efforts to solve transit problems and strengthen rail relations in the cis area.
Referring to the importance of the position of the Inter-Governmental Road Management Council and the membership of some private companies in it, he emphasized the need to exchange experiences between the member companies of that council and their Iranian counterparts.
Dr. Mohammad Reza Brahmand, while emphasizing the importance of expanding international transportation interactions with CIS countries, welcomed Karimov’s suggestions regarding meetings and exchanging views on each other’s transportation capacities.
Referring to the growth of transit statistics and the multiplication of exports and transit from this region, Barhamand said: The membership of the special region in the Road and Transport Cooperation Council of CIS countries is one of the priorities of this region.
It is worth mentioning that after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Commonwealth of Nations, known as cis, was formed, consisting of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The development of the economic relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the member countries of the aforementioned group is among the country’s priorities, and cooperation between them in the field of transportation and transit with these countries, especially after the recent geopolitical developments, has become more important in line with common interests.
